5×15 features five stellar speakers, speaking for fifteen minutes each on a topic they are passionate about. What the audience gets is a quick, sharp and diverse lineup of artists, speaking on an eclectic range of topics with rigour and wit.
5×15 originated in London and now has chapters in New York and Milan. The series has hosted speakers like Gloria Steinem, Salman Rushdie, Malcolm Gladwell and Eve Ensler. ISF is proud to be the only Canadian host of 5×15, with four hugely successful iterations of the event so far, featuring Canadian and international stars such as Ivan Coyote, Reza Aslan, Vivek Shraya, Talvin Singh, Michael Nicol Yahgulanaas, Kamila Shamsie and Carmen Aguirre.
Hosted by the always funny Kamal Pandaya, our all-star line-up of speakers in 2018 includes:
- Jarrett Martineau is an Indigenous scholar, host of the award-winning show ‘Reclaimed’ on CBC Music and the Co-Founder & Creative Producer of Revolutions Per Minute.
- Charlotte Gill is a Canadian writer and former professional tree planter. She is the multi-award-winning author of the memoir Eating Dirt and the collection of short stories Ladykiller.
- Amitava Kumar is the author of several highly acclaimed works of fiction and non-fiction and is the Helen D. Lockwood Professor of English at Vassar College.
- Wade Davis is a writer, photographer, and filmmaker who has been the Explorer-in-Residence at the National Geographic Society, and is the author of twenty-two award-winning books.
