Ashwin Sood was born in the United Kingdom to Indian immigrant parents, and grew up in Calgary. He started playing the drums at age seven and graduated from California’s Musicians Institute. Sood was the drummer in Sarah McLachlan’s band for 25 years and has played or worked alongside Stevie Nicks, Rufus Wainwright, Sheryl Crow and Jason Mraz, among others. He has been a part of Indian Summer Festival, over the years in collaborations with Ruby Singh, Tarun Nayar and Rajasthan Josh, as well as a special ‘percussion meets cuisine’ event with celebrated chef Vikram Vij. Sood has branched out into all facets of the music racket: production, songwriting, session work, music publishing and A/R and has been responsible for helping launch the career of many a musician.
