Carmel Tanaka (she/her) is thrilled to join the ISF team! Carmel was born and raised in Vancouver on the unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh into a mixed “Jewpanese” family. She holds a Master’s Degree in Emergency and Disaster Management from Tel Aviv University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Asian Studies Language and Culture from the University of British Columbia. Outside of ISF, Carmel wears a number of social justice hats, specifically the “Cross Cultural Strathcona Walking Tour”, “Genocide Prevention BC” and “JQT Vancouver” (Vancouver’s Jewish queer and trans community). Carmel is a total foodie, as well as an avid social partner dancer of all styles, and loves nothing more than shredding powder on the ski hills (and cats)!
