Elizabeth Zvonar

Museum Bhavan | ISF 2018 Artist

Zvonar graduated from Emily Carr University in 2001. She makes objects and pictures that think through metaphor and the metaphysical, often using humour and referencing art history while noticing the discrepancies between the sexes and regressive hierarchical structures. She was recently inducted into the Royal Canadian Academy of the Arts and was shortlisted for the 2016 Aimia Photography Prize at the AGO in Toronto. She has exhibited locally, nationally and internationally. She has a newly launched a major public billboard project at Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival at 11 Bay Street in Toronto. She is represented by Daniel Faria Gallery in Toronto and lives in Vancouver.

Location: The Ron Burnett Library + Learning Commons, Emily Carr University, 520 E 1st Ave, Vancouver, BC V5T 0H2

Reason: Not only because this is my Alma Mater but mostly because it has a thorough and discursive collection within which is home to the nonpareil Special Collections. This place is a special gem in the city of Vancouver.
