Justin Neal grew up picking berries on a small family farm his Squamish grandma, Dorothy Nahanee, and Filipino grandpa, Thomas Almojuela, purchased in the 1940s on Bainbridge Island, Washington.
Justin has worked in the marketing, creative services, and editorial departments for Bravo (NBC Universal), SundanceTV, Mother Jones, Vanity Fair, ACLU-WA, The Kitchen (NYC), Native Education College, and others.
He earned a Joint Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and Theatre from the University of British Columbia in 2015. Justin co-produced UBC’s Brave New Play Rites for two years. As a writer and theatre artist, Justin has penned over a dozen works for stage and screen with a particular focus on contemporary Indigenous narratives, and has collaborated and/or performed in productions in New York City, the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, and Vancouver.
